Who Is We Make Indiana
We Make Indiana unites faith communities and people of conscience to make Indiana safe, healthier, and whole. We are a multi-faith, multi-racial, and nonpartisan movement that partners with public officials to affect policies, budgets, and programs so everyone can flourish. We have active chapters in Porter County and St. Joseph County, with growing partnerships in Lake and Elkhart Counties.
What We Do
Beginning by establishing healthy relationships within our local community and expanding to public officials, both local and state, the aim of We Make Indiana is to listen to the needs of our neighbors, research what can be done, and join efforts with other faith communities to pursue a concrete and sustainable plan for addressing thoose needs. The most common issues being named are (1) affordable housing, (2) affordable childcare, (3) mental health, and (4) climate change.
Where We're Headed
In this current season of We Make Indiana, we have begun the research stage where we plan meetings with public officials and issue experts to start narrowing in on the specific issues we want to address together. Each participating congregation develops a team to contact their local officials for in-person meetings to build relationships with decision-makers, inform us about what opportunities exist to create change, and together learn about solutions to make it happen.
